James Devney, DO, DABPMR
Dr. Devney is a practicing Physiatrist, triple board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He performs a broad spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as Electromyography (EMG’s) and Nerve Conduction Studies. He is Founder and CEO of Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine, PC. He additionally holds an active volunteer teaching appointment through the University of Nebraska School of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Dr. Devney graduated with honors from osteopathic medical school at the University of North Texas in 1997, then completed a four year residency in 2001 where he served as Chief Resident his final year at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He subsequently trained as Fellow at the Virginia Spine Institute in Reston, VA. Upon returning to his home state of Nebraska, Dr. Devney served on the physician teaching staff at Creighton University as Assistant Professor and Chief, Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Department of Orthopedics for nearly three years. He subsequently served as Chief of Physiatry at Nebraska Spine Center from 2004-2011.
Board certifications include: Diplomate, American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; Diplomate, American Board of Electodiagnostic Medicine; Diplomate, American Board of Pain Medicine.
Memberships include: American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians; North American Spine Society; American Academy of Pain Medicine; American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine; Metro Omaha Medical Society; Nebraska Medical Association.
Dr. Devney is published in both American and foreign medical journals. He is a member of several professional societies and has served as past Vice President, Nebraska Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Dr. Devney is proud to have served active duty in the United States Air Force and for several subsequent years in the Army National Guard. He is married to Susan and has two children, Courtney and Trevor. He enjoys motor sports, football and family pursuits in his leisure time.
